Your Itinerary for the Perfect Smoky Mountain Romantic Getaway

Smoky Mountain Ziplines and Adventure Park

Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park – Sevierville

Extreme activities dominate this popular spot. With their two signature zipline tours to start, you can then choose a package that includes nine other adventures ranging from hiking trails to obstacles courses. For a little more, you can go whitewater rafting, tubing and zipping with their Total Adventure Pass, or explore the deep forest in a custom ATV with their Bear Crawler tour. If you can’t decide between off-roading or zipping, then go for both with the combo package.

Pigeon River Whitewater Rafting

Nantahala Outdoor Center – Gatlinburg

Nothing beats whitewater rafting for thrilling aquatic fun, and you’ll find it right in Gatlinburg’s own backyard on the upper Pigeon River. According to the American Outdoors Association, it’s the third most visited place in the country for rafting. On this five-mile course, guests ride down Class II to IV rapids with an experienced guide. You’ll see great views of the National Park not often seen by most visitors.

Horseback Riding

Five Oaks Riding Stables – Sevierville

You can certainly hike the many trails in the Smokies. But why not take the mode of transportation that pioneers and settlers did a century or two ago? On these leisurely half-hour to one hour horseback rides, you’ll enjoy peace and tranquility as you venture through the 70-acre forested property. These horses are gentle, so even if you haven’t been riding in a long time – or at all – you’ll have a safe but memorable experience.

Bicycling Cades Cover

Cades Cove Loop – Smoky Mountains National Park

This trail circling a broad valley affords some of the best wildlife viewing in the park. You’ll most likely see white-tailed deer, but you might also glimpse at black bears, coyotes, wild turkeys and raccoons. While you can cruise the entire 11-mile route, two shortcuts are along the way if you get tired. Rent bikes at Cades Cove Trading in the park. If you go early on Wednesday or Saturday, you’ll have a car-free route until 10 AM.

Smoky Mountain Hiking

Ramsey Cascades – Smoky Mountains National Park

This challenging but popular hike rewards your efforts with a breathtaking 100-foot-plus waterfall tumbling over numerous rocks and boulders. Make sure you bring plenty of water and wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes – since it’s a eight-mile round trip from the trailhead to the cascades – as well as your camera to capture the beauty of this special place.

And when you’re done with your action-filled day, you can return to Christopher Place, your Smoky Mountain resort. Recover by soaking the outdoor pool or the sauna room, then enjoy some refreshing drinks on the porch. Or, relax in the privacy of your room on a comfortable king or queen-size bed and personal hot tub. Top it off by joining us for dinner with its daily menu or for breakfast the next morning. Don’t forget to take the memories of your active Smoky Mountain romantic getaway with you!
